The transmission is by far the most complex component of today’s vehicles, containing well over 200 parts. Due to its complexity, most transmission problems can’t be fixed by the average “do-it-yourself” mechanic and, unfortunately, many issues are misdiagnosed by general repair shops that do not specialize in transmission repairs. Having in-depth knowledge on a vehicle’s transmission system is vital to providing the proper diagnosis and highest quality repairs. Taking your vehicle to an expert at the earliest signs of potential failure can save you a lot of time and money.

Certified Transmission has been providing industry leading transmission service and repairs since 1967. Whether your vehicle is in need of a preventative maintenance service such as a fluid and filter change, a minor repair, or a major rebuild or replacement, the Certified team has you covered. Our technicians are ASE master certified and receive continual training so you can rest assured our team will get the job done right the first time.

Typical symptoms of transmission problems are:

  • Leaking Fluid: Park your car in a clear, clean area for 24 hours. Then move the car and check for any evidence of liquid: drips or puddles. Red fluid is typically transmission fluid and may mean that you have a leak. Transmission fluid cools and lubricates the parts as they move. Low fluid can cause the trans to overheat and/or parts to wear down. (NOTE: Green may be antifreeze very poisonous to pets and children, and black fluid is usually motor oil.)
  • Check Engine Light: The check engine light tells you that the car’s internal computer detects a problem in one of the operating systems. It could be an issue with the transmission, the engine, the exhaust, or any number of things. Better safe than sorry on this one. Get it in to a professional with the proper diagnostic equipment.
  • Something feels wrong: Grinding and shaking as you increase speed, decrease speed, or shift gears can be a symptom of a serious transmission problem.
  • Makes funny sounds: A transmission that is operating properly will not make noises. If you hear whining or humming, there’s a problem. Keep in mind that the noises may only happen intermittently at first but will happen more and more frequently over time. If your car ever starts making unfamiliar noises, it’s best to get it checked out by a professional, ASAP.
  • Won’t go into gear: When an automatic transmission hesitates or has issues engaging “Park” or “Drive” instead of shifting quickly into gear, there’s likely an issue with the transmission.

The transfer case is an essential part of all-wheel-drive (AWD), four-wheel-drive (4X4), and other multi-powered axle vehicles. It is responsible for taking the power from the transmission and sending it to both the front and rear axles by means of the vehicle’s driveshaft. Another primary function of the transfer case is synchronizing the difference in rotation between the front and rear wheels. This is a vital component of the t-case (transfer case) system due to the fact that the vehicle’s tires are always turning at different speeds. Without this synchronizing ability, binding would occur. This causes premature tire wear, potentially dangerous driving situations, and damage to the transfer case and other vehicle components. The overall purpose of the transfer case and all-wheel-drive unit (in AWD applications) is to provide added traction on slick, loose, or slippery surfaces, creating a safer driving experience for the operator.

Certified Transmission, Inc. has been providing industry leading transmission service and repairs for over 48 years. Whether your vehicle is in need of a preventative maintenance service, such as a fluid and filter change, a minor repair, or a major rebuild or replacement, the Certified team has you covered. Our technicians are ASE master certified and receive continual training so you can rest assured that our team gets the job done right, the first time.

There are many tell-tale signs of transfer case failure and knowing what to look out for can save you a lot of time and money! The team here at Certified Transmission, Inc. has been specializing in diagnosing and repairing even the most complex transmission and transfer case issues since 1967.

Warning Signs of a Transfer Case Issue Include:

  • Leaking fluid under center of vehicle
  • Check engine light is on
  • Cannot feel all four wheels engage when applied
  • Noise when shifting
  • Trouble getting into gear
  • Won’t move
  • Four wheel drive light blinks or does not work

The primary function of the differential is to transmit power to the wheels while allowing the outer drive wheel to rotate at a faster speed than the inner wheel during a turn. The differential also acts as the final gear reduction in the vehicle, slowing the rotational speed of the transmissions one final time before it hits the wheels. All vehicles produced today are equipped with either a front or rear differential, depending on if the vehicle is front-wheel drive (FWD) or rear-wheel drive (RWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) and four-wheel drive (4X4) vehicles have two separate differentials and either a transfer case or a center differential to displace the engine’s power.

Our team here at Certified Transmission, Inc. has the extensive knowledge and expertise required to diagnose, repair, and rebuild a wide variety of differential and driveline issues for both domestic and foreign vehicles. Our highly trained team has specialized in differential repairs since 1967 and can handle any differential or driveline issue you may be experiencing. Give us a call today to see what sets us apart from rest!

Are you experiencing something odd in your vehicle’s driveline that makes you suspect a potential differential issue? The following is a list of some of the most common signs of differential problems to keep an eye out for. Make sure to take your vehicle in for an inspection at the first sign of drive train failure to avoid further damage.

Common Signs of Differential Problems Include:

  • Leaking fluid from the front or rear of the vehicle
  • Moisture on the front or rear differential
  • Unusual “humming” or “whining” sound
  • Noise on acceleration or deceleration
  • Clunking noise around turns
  • Vibrations while driving
  • Excessive vehicle noise

  • Transfer Case Service
  • Front Differential Service
  • Rear Differential Service
  • & More
In order to keep your warranty in full effect, you may be required to have certain services performed as prescribed in your owner’s manual or as required in the warranty. Typical Manufacturer recommended maintenance might include oil changes, filter changes, transmission, transfer case, differential and driveline inspections, etc.

Preventative maintenance and early detection of problems helps save you time and money on costly repairs down the road. Consult your owner’s manual for manufacturer recommended maintenance and make sure to keep up with all of your services. Just like regular check-ups with your family physician, regular maintenance provides an opportunity to point out small problems before they become big problems, saving you from surprise issues that could leave you stranded on the side of the road or worse.

You can trust the team here at Certified Transmission, Inc. to thoroughly inspect your vehicle to ensure proper maintenance and extend the life of your car!

Who can perform my Manufacturer Recommended Maintenance?

In most cases, your non-warranty maintenance can be performed by either a dealership or your own mechanic. (Double-check your warranty to be sure!)

Many independent repair shops can perform these services at costs that are very competitive with dealerships. They have access to the same information that franchised dealers have about model-specific problems and they may be familiar with less expensive aftermarket parts that perform just as well as manufacturer parts.

The Magnusen-Moss Act of 1975 prohibits new car dealers from implying or denying warranty service because routine scheduled maintenance was performed at an independent repair facility. (Magnusen-Moss Act (1975) Title 15 Chapter 50-Section 2301-2312.

See What Our Customers Are Saying

"Had issues with my daughter's transmission. I was expecting a high bill to repair the problem that turned out to be coding errors. The result was a very small repair cost. Thank you for your honesty." - Bill Iannuzzelli

They treated me right! Not only was the bill less than what they estimated, they gave me a ride to where I had to meet some people while my transmission was being worked on. These are good people and were recommended by my go-to mechanic. - Daniel Roll

"Took my truck in for them to look at so I could get an estimate of how much it would cost. Took them a week to get to it because they were busy and it was a holiday weekend. Once they called me they told me what was the problem and gave me the estimate of $350, which honestly wasn't that bad. They fixed it and returned it to me the next day and was a bit cheaper than they expected. They are truly certified!!!!" - Joseph DeMoss

They found my problem instantly, a bit of a wait time to get in sometimes, but price is pretty fair, and they know what they're doing. - Andrew Temple
